Favors

This lovely cookie-cake from Martha Stewart is my dream favor:

But as the wedding approaches, I am definitely getting more realistic about the time I want to spend making favors. We had some madelines the other night after dinner. I am pretty sure that they sell these soft, delicious cookies at Sam's Club or Costco. Instead of spending the time baking and assembling the cookies during the week before the wedding, I can stop at the store, pick up a few boxes of madelines and pack them in pretty boxes with cellophane and ribbon.

So now onto looking for boxes. I have ordered boxes from US Box and their prices are awesome. I am thinking of getting 2 piece silver gift boxes and packing them with pink tissue paper & cellophane and tying them with pink ribbon.

Maybe we can make the cookie cakes for a shower instead.

Flowers

Since my bridesmaids will be wearing silver, I picked a range of cool pinks for the flowers. I spent months scouring the knot and florists' websites looking for inspiration. I absolutely love the look of tightly packed carnations.

We have about 40 square glass vases from my sister's wedding 2 years ago, so I definitely want to use those. But since most of our guest will have seen them before, I want to try and use them in a different way. I am thinking of something like this, but with really tightly packed carnations instead of roses.

I sent a bunch of pictures to my florist - I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Wedding Colors

First I thought about silver after seeing a friend's mom's mother of the bride dress that was shiny and gorgeous.

Then I picked brown, white and sage green because I thought it would look sophisticated and glamorous. Then every bridesmaid dress I looked at that was brown was ugly and I couldn't stop thinking about poop. I imagined myself at the church, looking at my wonderful cousins and friends in their dresses, all lined up. I couldn't help but think I would burst out laughing thinking poop, poop, poop, poop. So brown was out.

After that, i realized that i really like red. I closed my eyes and thought about red roses, gold chivari chairs and candlelight and really liked the picture. But there are 12 bridesmaids. That's alot of red. Also, my sister wore red in a friend's wedding and hated it.

So in the end, I am back to silver. And it all worked out wonderfully. I found this beautiful dress from Dessy and my girls are all thrilled with it.

And I am totally excited about the flowers, which will be my favorite color - Pink.
